I was on my way to North Carolina when these guys passed me on 20 around Pell City. It was awesome.
If you look on the Bandit Run facebook page, there is a pic of a green and white Volkswagen Bus one of them took on the road. That was me.
Most of them were waving, giving me thumbs up and taking pictures. It made me happy to see most of them were true gear heads.

I miss my 73' Grand Prix...it was my first fixer upper and i was young(clueless bout fixing cars). Wish I still had it, I would be working on it all the time. Now that I know a lot more about cars(fixing them). Guess you have to learn the hard way.

I have a 74 Landau that I bought from my mom in 1988. My folks bought it in 1978. It started out as factory 350/350 auto, 273 gear, 2 bbl weakling. But, what a great car for cruising and parking. Since then, it has gotten a dual quad 454, racing TH400, 3.42 gears and limited slip. I crippled it on it's last run of about 140mph aroun the year 2000 and it has been lawn art ever since. I refuse to sell it because of the sentimantal and emotional value I have for it. I love that car and will one day do a frame off resto to it and probably go back to near stock with it. If I want a hot rod, I still have my 86 Monte SS that is 500+HP LS3 powered beast. Monte's forever!!!

One of my favorite old junkyard haunts was a foreign car place up in Piedmont. Unfortunately most of the cool stuff has been crushed now and the 90 year old owner passed away. After he saw me shut a door on a car that someone else had obviously left open, he'd always let a teenage me roam around there for hours just looking because he knew I wouldn't mess with a thing.

what a damn shame but those were the days of street racing and street racing was what it was dangerious and thats why we did it that and to show who had the fastest cars without any timse clock it could have been bad i never had the chance to restore anything like that just never had the money or time or well never found anything really good enough here in missouri that old that was worth rebuilding unless it was a barn find and then they sold for a unreal high price so i always had to build sleepers stock factory cars wit built used parts hot rods that looked like shit and ran like a bad out of hell alot of fun taken an old four door rotted out buick regal chain the frame and chain the motor down give it all she has go back later pick up the lost fenders that rotted from the bounce of the old floppy byas ply tires beating against the pavement ha those were the days

I would love to see the looks of the restored 1955 Chevy. I've seen a lot of vintage cars in one of the vintage car shows in our city, and they all look very compelling. However, I did not see the 1955 model. I hope to see some photos of this car once fully restored.
